David Taylor Quilts

Henniker Colors

After a long, hot summer, fall has finally arrived in New Hampshire. I just got back from a trip to the Orange Grove Quilters Guild in Huntington Beach. California was warm, breezy and green! Coming home from Boston Logan airport, I noticed the leaves had just begun turning in Massachusetts. North of the state line into New Hampshire, the autumn colors are rapidly increasing. We are forecast for very low temperatures tonight ... the frost should be on the pumpkins by morning! I love fall. I've included pictures from around my property. My yard is carpeted with fallen leaves.

Hudson River Valley Workshop

There is just one more opportunity to take a five-day workshop with me in 2018. There are a few spots available in my pictorial applique workshop being held December 2-8 in Greenville, NY. I will have my HandiQuilter Sweet Sixteen at the workshop if you are interested in concentrating on free-motion quilting techniques with me. This is an opportunity to have some one-on-one time at the quilting machine. It's not too late to enroll, but time is marching forward. Follow this link for more information about Hudson River Valley Art Workshops: fiberartworkshops.com. Send me an email if you have any questions.

Flowers of the Month

I've finished piecing the top for my Flowers of the Month quilt! I'm hoping to have it completed before Quilt Festival in Houston. Wish me luck! January through October patterns are available in the online shop on my website; the patterns for November and December flowers can be pre-ordered.

And, speaking of Houston, I forgot to mention that I'll have all the patterns for sale in my Floral Applique class on Friday, November 9. I'll also have my Texas Bluebonnet pattern available for the workshop. I had created that pattern for "Applique Away on Galveston Bay" earlier this year.

In the News

I am thrilled to see one of my very favorite quilt shops featured in Quilt Sampler magazine. I consider Holly's Quilt Cabin in Centennial, Colorado, my "home" quilt shop. It was the first quilt store classroom I taught in more than a decade ago. I had a return visit this past summer to teach for Kari and Holly, and I am on the class schedule for next year. One of Kari's patterns, Ribbon Twist, is also in the issue. I saw two versions of the finished quilt at the shop in August. Patterns and kits are available to order on their website: thequiltcabin.com

Road to California

Registration is open for classes at Road to California, which is upcoming in January 2019. I'll be teaching six workshops in the HandiQuilter Sweet Sixteen classroom so there are plenty of opportunities to spend the day with me on my favorite quilting machine. This is a great time to test drive a sit-down quilting machine! Register here: road2ca.com.

2019 Retreat Workshops

I've updated my website with the listing of all of my retreat workshops in 2019. Visit Retreat Workshops. The first one on my 2019 calendar is teaching at The Cotton Patch for Carolie in Lafayette, California. We've scheduled my annual spring visit a little earlier next year to January 28 - February 1. Non-local students will need to book their own accommodations. The staff members at The Cotton Patch are happy to provide recommendations. Click here for info: The Cotton Patch

I am thrilled to be added to the roster of workshops at MISA's newest Southwest venue at the Hilton Santa Fe Historic Plaza! Santa Fe is an art utopia. The downtown arts district is second to none. I can't tell you how excited I am to be teaching there in May -- on my birthday! Registration is now open, and I expect the workshop to fill rather quickly. It's an easy, scenic drive for all of my Colorado quilting friends. Register online at: madelineartschool.com

Online registration for my Spring Retreat at The Valley Inn in Waterville Valley, New Hamsphire, opens Friday, November 2. The workshop will be held May 20-25, 2019. Enrollment is strictly limited to just 15 students. The cost is $1149 for shared accommodations, 15 meals and the class. A single room package is $1449. A $200 deposit reserves your spot. The prices are the same for my Fall Retreat at the Silver Fox Inn in September. Registration for that event opens Monday, January 14, 2019. Again, enrollment is limited. Here are links: Valley Inn Spring Retreat and Silver Fox Inn Fall Retreat.

Until next time,
David
