Santa Fe Stonework – Precision Piecing Workshop

Wednesday, August 22 | 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

This is a project class for learning precision machine piecing on a domestic sewing machine. I encourage students to supply their own PRE-WASHED fabrics. (Remember you don't need lots of YARDAGE, it's only an 18-inch block!)

Download a color chart to help with your fabric choices: Precision Piecing Chart

If you are unsure of your color choices, bring more than what is required and I'll be happy to assist with selections. If you are interested in purchasing a PRE-WASHED fabric 'kit' for the workshop, I will have plenty for everyone. The pattern fee is $10 USD; a pre-washed, pre-cut fabric kit is an additional $20.

Simple Pictorial Applique

Thursday, August 23 | 8:30 a.m. - 4 p.m.

Learn my layered, pictorial applique technique which uses freezer paper templates and pre-turned edges for a clean, finished look. The required kit ($30) includes everything you'll need to get the project started: the pattern with full-color printed instructions, pre-washed fabrics, freezer paper templates, background fabric and more. I'm thrilled to present my new daffodil, rose, lily of the valley, and sweet pea patterns at this workshop. Bring just your basic sewing supplies (pencil, pins, scissors, etc.).

Basic, Beautiful, Blue-Ribbon Bindings

Friday, August 24 | 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.

In this one hour lecture, I'll share my complete process for constructing a basic, beautiful binding for any quilt. There is a simple secret 'ingredient' for getting your quilt to lay flat. You'll never read those dreaded words from a quilting judge ever again... "Bindings should be full, tight and even."

Yes, You Can Stipple!

Saturday, August 25 | 8:30 – 11:30 a.m.

This is a FUN and fast-paced class for beginners intimidated by the thought of machine quilting. Through a series of lessons using specific fabric and batting 'sandwiches' – each created to build your confidence – you'll be able to say "Yes, I Can Stipple!" and a whole lot more! Students will learn how to find their own rhythm without a stitch regulator. We'll discuss tension, and how to finish off thread ends. Bernina is providing the sewing machines. The techniques used can be applied to your own domestic home machine.
