WHAT'S NEW

Keeping Watch Over Carlson Ranch

I've finished another wall quilt. This is the third piece in my 'barn' series. In the spring of 2007 I bought a variety of Lois Jarvis' Rust-Tex fabrics from her booth at Chicago IQA Festival in Rosemont. The designs looked 'feathery' to me and became the inspiration for this barn owl quilt. Like "Little S'Tinker" and "I Ain't No Spring Chicken!," the wood is machine-pieced and the owl was hand-appliqued to a muslin base. Again, I had to include a lining fabric for all of the white applique pieces to avoid having the turned-under edges show through. "Keeping Watch...." is 59" x 39" inches and is my 2009 entry for the International Quilt Festival in Houston.

I love my new Hand-Quilter "HQSixteen."
I have switched from my Bernina 160 to the HQ Sixteen by Handi-Quilter for my machine quilting! My new piece, "Keeping Watch Over Carlson Ranch," above, was quilted entirely on my new sit-down "HQS." And I finished the quilting in less than two weeks! Click here for more information on the HQ Sixteen.
